The tale revolves around Dainy, the Duchess of Jordinia who goes missing. While the public believes that Dainy was assassinated 15 years earlier, her own uncle has set upon some people on an assignment to find her, even going to the extent of offering her hand in exchange for finding her! This brings together three men, at odds with each other, nevertheless unified in their mission to find her. The story takes a further turn, when all three of them, upon finding her, in intent upon winning her heart over.

The tale is a fabulous mix of fantasy, romance and historical fiction. Added to this are the elements of political conspiracies and the adventurous encounters of the three suitors of Dainy's. I loved the beautiful narration that brings to mind the exquisite and charming locations of the old-age world to mind right away. Although the romance sections are on the sensual side, the story is still enjoyable. The best feature of the book was the way the characters were described - brings out the remarkable uniqueness of each one!

I highly recommend this book to lovers of historical romance and fantasy fiction.

Callie was just a normal southern girl trying to finish up her last semester of nursing school. She was far from her home back in Tennessee, attending NWDU on a full scholarship in the beautiful state of Colorado. Close to finishing school, she was excited to go back home…kinda. Her parents were a little overbearing and didn’t give her much privacy.

Her world was suddenly changed when she landed herself in the morgue of the local hospital…dead on arrival. From that day forward, she was dead set on finding out what had happened and why. She couldn’t seem to remember anything about her “accident,” nor did she have any wounds to corroborate with what she thought may have occurred.

On the first day of her co-op, Callie made a fool of herself in front of one of the hospital’s most prestigious doctors, and even though he was indifferent—and a bit on the stuffy side—to her, she was determined to be on good terms with him. Slowly, she started to fall for him. Determined to keep things professional, she tried to hide her true feelings.

But then the doctor suddenly showed up on Callie’s spring break with crushing news for her. She learned about her past and her true nature. Will she be able to accept it all, or will she fight the crimson calling?

S.J. Slack has a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a natural talent for writing that she discovered as a student. When she’s not using her piano fingers on her computer, she is spending time with her husband and daughter. She has a deep passion for writing, good wine, and chocolate.

The story revolves around Callie, who is in a nursing school in Denver. She comes across Dr Harding in the Emergency Room, where she begins her clinical career. Despite a sour start psychologically, she soon finds herself trusting and opening up to Dr Harding. She encounters Dr Harding again in a mysterious circumstance while on vacation in Vegas, who reveals a startling secret about her transformation into something evil and fearsome. To add to her woes, Callie's biological uncle enters the picture, with his own hidden motives.

This was a superb read! Albeit short, I guess this was exactly the effect the author wanted to achieve - leaving the reader wanting for more. Full of surprises and twists, the story has been set at a good pace. Given the restrictions of the length of the book, at times the reader is dazed at the speed with which the story progresses. Nevertheless, the length of the tale hasn't stopped the author from delving into each character in detail. Be it Callie, her bewilderment and puzzled responses clear at the revelations about herself, or Dr Harding, who finds himself helping a nursing student in his ER, the characters are enigmatic and intriguing.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of paranormal tales.

Rehab is for Witches Anthology
Various Authors
Published By- SideStreet Cookie Publishing
Publication Date- October 31st, 2014

Welcome to Little Raven: an unsullied, beautiful woodland hamlet in the heart of the Midwest. The sort of place where furry creatures romp about and spend their days bursting into song.
Actually, that’s a giant pack of lies.
Little Raven is a town…for witches.
And some of those witches might have bent the rules. A teensy bit. When six magical miscreants dabble with black magic, they end up together at Incantations, the town’s rehab center for witches gone awry. It’s a slap on the wrist for naughty witches. Pretty much a daycare center so they don’t wander off and start turning people into newts on a whim. Each witch must work through her addiction to black magic, and follow the tenets designed to lead them back to the path of the straight and narrow, as boring as that sounds. Even if following the tenets sucks worse than a group round of kum-bay-ya. Which sucks. Horribly.
We will admit we are powerless over magic—that our lives have become unmanageable.
We will make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of the Goddess as we understand Her.
We will make a searching and fearless moral and magical inventory of ourselves.
We will admit to the Goddess, to ourselves, and to another being the exact nature of our magical wrongs.
We will make a list of all persons or beings we have harmed, and become willing to make amends to them all.
We will make direct amends to such beings whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
We are entirely ready to bow before the Goddess and have Her remove all our defect of character, even at the risk of being entirely stripped of our magic.
But this is just the start. There’s something rotten in Little Raven, something that seeks to take all the magic it can, and devour the inhabitants in the process. It will take the strength and power of all the witches to defeat the darkness seeping into their town, beat it back, and be rid of it forever…and maybe just make it through rehab while they’re saving the world.

This is a collection of tales all set in "Little Raven", a rehab centre for witches who have strayed away from the allowed track. Things take a turn when a few of such witches sense that the rehab centre has sinister and strange happenings going on. Do they manage to figure out who is causing these and do they manage to save themselves, and the rehab centre, is what the different tales take us through. Starting with "A Diary Full of Names" that has Die who has been caught selling bad spells, and ending with "A Photo Full of Justice", where all the witches are brought back together and they need to stop an evil force from causing damage, the stories are all beautifully narrated.

The tales have a splattering of characters - a witch who has been abandoned into the hands of a bad witch, a witch who is obsessed with dark magic too much for her own good, that she ends permanently destroying her eyes and hands, a witch who has been caught misusing potions in self-loathing moments, a witch who is in rehab because she found it hard to come to terms with the fact that the love of her life had died, a witch who is in rehab owing to the voices in her head make her set things afire. The narration for all tales has been handled brilliantly - spotlighting the characters and their inner conflicts. The pace in each story is set just right and that makes the reading even more interesting.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of fantasy thriller genres.
