Hunters and Creators (My Demonic Ghost # 3) by Jacinta Maree

Hunters and Creators (My Demonic Ghost #3)Hunters and Creators by Jacinta Maree
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

15 years after Rachel's horrid nightmarish episodes, Rachel is still haunted by fears of the past. While the rest of the world has come to terms with the supernatural elements in their midst, Rachel still struggles with her memories. With her mind almost wiped out of the details, but retaining hazy uneasiness about all that happened, Rachel returns to Whitehaven. In the care of Gargoyle the Hunter, Rachel is shattered when she encounters Lock again. Torn between the dilemma of who she actually harbours feelings for, with a failing memory, Rachel needs to fight internal and outside battles. What Rachel does, is what the book takes us through.

The book is as engaging and enjoyable as the first two in the My Demonic Ghost series. Rachel's internal conflicts are brought out well and her characterisation is endearing. The pace was brisk and the narrative was smooth and flowing.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and would definitely recommend it to lovers of supernatural and paranormal genres.

Hunters and Creators
My Demonic Ghost # 3
By- Jacinta Maree
Genre- YA Paranormal/Ghosts

It’s been five years since the phenomenon that shook the world’s belief in the supernatural. It has become a worldwide obsession as crowds flock together in hopes of catching a glimpse of the spirits. That is most… except Rachael Hastings.

Rachael, now at University, lives with a giant blank page in her memory from when she was fifteen years old. Plagued by nightmares of a green-eyed monster, Rachael tries to stay as far away from the paranormal as humanly possible. Despite her efforts, he stalks her through the shadows and appears in her dreams for reasons she can’t understand.

Along with friends from school, Rachael returns to Whitehaven. During her stay she is caught up in the ongoing war between heaven and hell she had unknowingly escaped from years ago.

Forced into the care of Gargoyle the Hunter, Rachael attempts to piece together her shattered memory. As emotions grow between them, a familiar green-eyed demon returns to her side, claiming that Rachael is his one true love. With the world falling apart around them, can Rachael remember who she loves and which side is right before it’s too late?

Camouflaged Encounters by David J. Englund

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Englund has churned out a gripping sci-fi... All it needs is a rainy afternoon, a cup of hot coffee and some cookies, and you can't help but finish the book in one go. What would you do if you were one of the few "real" humans still stuck on the planet, knowing that your homeland has been infested by human-lookalikes, who are out to wipe the race out? What would you do if almost everyone else brushes you off, not ready to believe you? What would you do if you knew that these human-pretenders are the reason behind most of the catastrophes and diseases in your land today? This is exactly the way the protagonist in the story is cornered. Having nobody to help him, except for his on-off girlfriend, an agent and a reluctant reporter, he faces the mighty task of saving the planet. Does he manage to survive, leave alone save Earth, is what the book takes us through.

The book is thoroughly entertaining. The unlikely alien friendships, the scientific details and technological justifications behind the incidents portrayed, the witty lines, are all a treat to read. The pace was brisk and engaging. I wish there was more to read on the idealogies and the mind-frames of Clark, but nevertheless, the book was still great fun.

Highly recommended.

Forget what you think you know. How well do you really know your neighbors or fellow workers? Do you trust your boss? What about politicians? The fabric of our society is under attack. Our way of life, our livelihood, our very existence is under full assault. No one even realizes that it’s happening. Disguised as horrible natural disasters on the news, the world is caught unsuspecting as events draw us ever nearer to extinction. As “natural disasters” escalate and tensions between nations mount, one man hears a whisper. It has begun . . .

He motioned his hand in a sideways circle. “What is it? What’s the master plan?”
She whispered, “Death. A lot of death. We’ve passed a world population of seven billion and they figure they could only feasibly control a race of two billion. Clark, they aim to kill five billion people. Five billion!”
“Oh my . . . five . . .” Clark staggered backward a few steps and sat down on the beach. “How . . . how do they plan to do it? How could such a thing even be done without a massive weapon? How could they manipulate us into killing five billion of our own . . . ?”
She sat down next to him and leaned her head on his shoulder. “It’s the food, the food. The MRE packets that are being shipped around the world. They’ve placed alien microbes into each one. After roughly eighteen hours in a person’s system, the microbes disintegrate the body from within. A person would turn into a pile of dust just like with their ray guns, only they don’t have to take the time to shoot everyone, they just offer billions of people free food.”
“That’s sounds like a horrible way to die.”
Sarina started crying openly. “That would be extremely painful. Can’t imagine what it would feel like to slowly turn to dust.”
Clark gasped. “Oh no, I saw it on the news. The first shipments have already arrived in Africa and Asia. The news showed video of packets being delivered to starving people already.”
